If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably spent the last couple of years slowly realising that a zombie apocalypse could be on the cards in the near future. Maybe it’s just Hollywood putting ideas in our heads, but if the dead were to rise from their graves with a burning hunger for human flesh, we’d all be in serious trouble. Of course, I’m not being 100% serious with that statement, but the truth of the matter is that natural disasters happen all the time and one day this could leave us without power or the ability to communicate through any means other than face to face. Should something like this occur, it will be those who spent time making preparations who fare best. With that in mind, take a quick read through this guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse, and maybe you could implement some of the suggestions into your own disaster plan.
While there’s certainly no point in buying fresh food in bulk, most tinned and frozen goods tend to last for a very long time when kept in the proper conditions. For that reason, buying a few extra items every time you visit the supermarket could be a wise move. Beans, vegetables and fruits are preferable, as they will provide you with all the nutrients you might require until stocks run low.
Toilet paper stocks
Sanitation is always going to be important as it helps to limit the spread of disease and ensure infections are kept to a minimum. If the power and water systems go down, your toilet isn’t going to be much use to anyone, and so you’ll have to start excreting your waste outside. Bathtubs will also become redundant, which means you’ll have a lot of trouble staying clean. Considering that, stocking up on toilet paper now could make all the difference when the time comes.
Like it or not, once communication solutions are unusable, criminals and other less than reputable people will begin to see an opportunity to run riot. That is why it’s important you keep weapon stocks in your home. Depending on where you live in the world, you may be able to buy guns with 9mm ammo. However, if this is illegal in your country of residence, opting to get hold of some baseball bats and shotguns will suffice. Obviously, you will only use them as a last resort, but if it comes down to a choice between your family and an intruder, you will have little choice in the matter.
Door and window reinforcements
Should a zombie apocalypse manifest, you’re always best to stay in your property for the longest time possible. That could be tricky if others are trying to gain entry though, which is why it would be sensible to start collecting materials to reinforce your doors and windows now. You should only need some wooden planks and long nails, so don’t worry, this won’t break the bank. However, it could help your family to stay safe until help arrives.
Well folks, you should now have a better understanding of what it will take to survive when the heavens turn red, and we enter the time of revelation.
Good luck with that!
